Global Game Jam at ETIC_Algarve in 2026

Global Game Jam is back from January 30 to February 1 at ETIC_Algarve

Following the success of previous editions, Global Game Jam is returning to ETIC_Algarve in 2026, once again transforming the school into one of the national stages for this creative marathon dedicated to video games.

Over the years, this event has established itself as an important step for future Game Developers, giving them the opportunity to take their first steps in the video game industry in a real environment of production, collaboration, and sharing.

What is Global Game Jam?

Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest collaborative video game development event. For 48 hours, participants from around the world take on the challenge of creating a game based on a surprise theme, revealed only at the start of the event.

It’s not just about programming:
it’s the perfect time to bring together art, design, storytelling, sound, and music in a single project.

Here, you will put into practice:

• Artistic skills
• Programming skills
• Teamwork
• Organization and time management

More than just a technical challenge, Global Game Jam is a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

More than creating games: creating experiences (and the future)

Global Game Jam is much more than “making a game in 48 hours.” It is:

• A safe space to experiment with new ideas, tools, and roles within a team.
• An opportunity to work with people from different fields: Programming, Game Design, Art, Animation, Sound & Music, Scriptwriting, etc.
• A relaxed but focused environment where everyone is pulling in the same direction: to reach the end with something playable and original.

How can I register?

Participation in the Global Game Jam at ETIC_Algarve is free, but places are limited to 60 participants.
