Joel Reis

Photography Trainer

I was born a surfer and photographer.

I studied Civil Construction, Architecture, then Business Management and, of course, Photography. After a career as a Designer and Designer, I entered the business world, but in good time I dedicated myself exclusively to photography, which I remain passionate about.

In recent years, as a professional photographer, I have been involved in some projects linked to the Media (as Director of a fashion magazine, and later as Editor of another fashion magazine, among others), and occasionally in Cinema, advertising films and documentaries, some of which have won international awards at film festivals (such as Dir. Fotografia, and one as Director).

I was therefore invited to join a teaching/cinematic project at OMP Academy (Portuguese Communications Foundation) as a Cinematographic Photography trainer and Director of Photography.

Teaching and Training have also always enchanted me.

Since 2016 I have been a teacher at the Professional School of Imaging (ETIC/EPI) in the Photography course (modules of Fashion Photography, Architecture Photography and Post-Photographic Production); and sometimes a trainer at FLAG (2D and 3D Autocad, Photoshop and Photography courses). Recently at ETIC_Algarve as a Fashion Photography trainer.””It’s all about fun” is how I approach photography professionally: with experience in catalogs and lookbooks, fashion editorials, books (modeling and personal development agencies), concerts, action sports (where surfing was a must), institutional photography, architecture, product and advertising, and I also produce some author material (photography and independent video/cinema).

As a result of this work, I have already published in national and international magazines in areas as different as Fashion, Architecture, Surfing, mountain biking and Music.

I consider myself a dedicated professional and always eager to learn. I like challenges and projects that allow you to combine art and creativity with technique and reason.

And when I’m not working, you probably find me on a beach surfing with huge boards (longboard), or if there are no waves, taking a motorcycle ride.
