Diogo Simão
Video Trainer
Diogo Simão (Portugal, 1994) directed eight short films, screened at international festivals and on national television. He served as executive producer of three award-winning documentaries by director Ana Monteiro, shot in Poland, Peru, and Portugal. At the same time, he has collaborated with different theatrical productions since 2010, mostly as an actor, but also as a photographer/videographer and playwright.
Graduated in Communication Sciences from UAlg, master in Creative Processes UAlg/PUC-SP and with courses at the National Film and Television School, HarvardX, MoMA, and Ball State University, he is currently an Argument & Storyboard trainer at ETIC_Algarve.
Diogo has been a short film programmer since 2015 in the context of different festivals and creator/producer of the ShortWeek competition in Loulé, Faro and Figueira da Foz.
Developing several multidisciplinary projects linked to his region of origin, the Algarve, he was part of Faro’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture between 2019 and 2022, directing “Geração Cápsula”: an initiative to promote young local artists. In the 2021 and 2023 editions of BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts, he coordinated creative processes with artists “Under-21”.
He is artistic director of Pluto de Verão, a cultural association he founded in 2019 and through which he has directed and collaborated in cultural, participatory, educational and solidarity projects. He has short stories published in anthologies and articles in newspapers, scientific publications, magazines and websites. He simultaneously develops copywriting work at B16 – The Creative Clan and photography linked to creative processes.
